The Havel-Canal:
10 minutes on foot
You will find everything that is necessary to survive: bakery,
supermarket, bakery (5 Minutes walk), post-office,
physician, pharmacy and three pubs /restaurants. |
Schönwalde im Glien (Glien stands for clay) lies in the
forests and marshlands
west of Berlin in Brandenburg (and has
not changed much since the "Kaisers" times).
The development dates from the 1930's.
It is built on sand dunes and distinguished by beeches,
birches and
pine trees.
If you feel like "going to town", a
mere 20 minutes' drive through the "Spandau Forest" will take
you to
the city. |

The place
is ideal for hiking or cycling
in a rather flat country one day and
exploring the City on the next.
Or play a
round of golf on one of more than 14 courses around
Berlin. |

For
those intersted in history: Schönwalde was a border
community on the eastern side during the Cold War. It was
fenced off by the wall from Berlin and you can still follow
the course of this monstrosity on the former guard ways -
now a common cycling path around former West-Berlin.

around the cottage:
The "Perwenitzer Straße" is a little frequented sandy
track. At night you may
hear a fox or an owl or the wind in the trees. The busy
main road is about 200 meters away and, depending on the
wind direction, one sometimes can hear
the traffic.
The neighbours' house is about 10 meters to the east. To
the south is an uninhabitad cottage, to the West a large
Garden and to the North across
the road is a tiny old cottage.
Most homes in the neighbourhood are inhabitated all year
round, so you will
be welcome as a "temporary neighbour".
